Every four years, a sensation comes over Americans. Millions skip work to tune into 90 minutes of kicking and running with maybe a score or two. Then a few weeks later when Team USA inevitably bites the dust, the entire nation forgets about the sport until the next World Cup comes around. Look, don't get me wrong, I'm 100% Patriotic and I want the USA to be the best at everything, but I'm not going to lie and act like I'm remotely interested in soccer or know anything about the sport. I know you can't use your hands but other than that the extent of my soccer knowledge is on par with Jason Sudeikis:
Regardless of my knowledge (or lack there of) of the sport of soccer, I know that cheering after a 0-1 loss to Germany should be unacceptable in this country! This is America, people. We shouldn't need Portugal's help to get to where we need to be. We shouldn't be "playing for a draw" and we damn sure shouldn't be content with just making the round of 16. If soccer is the "next biggest thing" like so many are trying to shove down our throats, shouldn't we have higher expectations?
On a lighter note, Go Clint Dempsey and Go Spurs Go!
