Its Friday the 13th and the only proper thing to do would be to list the top unlucky moments in sports history.
5. Steve Bartman
Everyone remembers the poor Cubs fan who fell off the face of the Earth after receiving death threats because he "costed the Cubs the 2003 NLCS." I feel really bad for this dude, must feel real bad to be hated by the team you love! See the video here.
4. Tennessee Titans (Super Bowl XXXIV)
With 6 seconds left in the 2000 Super Bowl, Tennessee Titans' QB Steve McNair hit Kevin Dyson on a quick slant. Dyson came up 1 yard short of the endzone and the Rams won the Super Bowl. This was one of the craziest finishes in Super Bowl history and a certain unlucky moment for the Titans. Check out that sweet Astro-Turf. See the final drive here.
3. Derek Fisher 0.4 against the Spurs
With 5.4 seconds left in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference semis, Tim Duncan hits a go ahead jumper from the top of the key leaving only 0.4 seconds left. Spurs fans thought for sure they were going to take a 3-2 game lead only to watch Derek Fisher drain a fade away with time expiring. Of course, Lakers' fans won't consider this unlucky. See the shot here.
2. Bill Buckner
Sox were up with a 3-2 series lead over the Mets in the 1986 World Series. With 2 outs and the winning run at 2nd, the Mets were facing elimination. Mookie Wilson hit a ground ball to first and Bill Buckner totally whiffed it and costed them the game and ultimately the Series as the Mets would win game 7. See the video here.
1. Auburn vs. Alabama
We've all seen this about a million times since it happened, and it hasn't gotten old yet! Alabama lined up to attempt a last second field goal to win the game, it was short and returned by Auburn's Chris Davis for a TD and the game. This ultimately cost Bama a shot at a repeat at the National Title. See the return here.
Theses are my top most unlucky moments in sports history. What's yours?
